Oh Hey! I’m Jill!

I’m so happy you’re here!

Creating a home is a process and it’s something best done over time. Home should be a haven where we can craft the life we want. I love homes with lots of books, comfy spots to snuggle, organized spaces to work and entertain, beautiful treasures picked up along the way, and mementos from a life well lived. But the thing I love most? Home is where your life happens. Let’s make it fabulous, shall we?

So, do you think it's okay to lick the insides of So, do you think it's okay to lick the insides of the yogurt container? Um, asking for a friend. It seems like the only proper thing to do, especially if you are recycling the container in question. I mean, you're not supposed to put it in the recycling bin with stuff still on it, right? It's sounding like a public service, really. And it's yogurt, hopefully in a yummy flavor. It's not like it's sour cream. You shouldn't lick that one, right? That just seems weird.Kitchen etiquette is important, I think. So I'm just trying to get up to date on what the cool kids are doing. So if you can help me out, let me know in the comments. Otherwise, Happy Wednesday! 😜#vintagekitchendecor #crocksandrollingpins #myvintagelife

⚠️Pillow chopping controversy ahead⚠️do yo ⚠️Pillow chopping controversy ahead⚠️do you do the karate chop, a soft chop, or just a plump? I wonder how that whole pillow chop even started 🤔I do love a soft chop because I love down pillows and how soft they will conform to a good smush. Cause you need a good down pillow smush if you’re ever going to nap 😴 on the couch! What say you? Chop or no? Vote in the comments 😂#pillowchop #myhomestyle #downpillow #accentpillow #karatechopapillow
What if you weren’t scared? What if you knew you What if you weren’t scared?
What if you knew you could?
What if it would make a difference for someone else?
What if it would make you happy?
What if...?You never know until you try, until you say YES, until you make it a goal.Happy Sunday my friends! It’s not impossible. It’s worth it. It’s not pointless. You just will never know. I don’t know about you, but I don’t wanna do regrets. I’d rather do failure. I’d rather say I tried, and I’d rather crawl back bloodied and crying (metaphorically please) and feeling alive then never having attempted. No excuses. Let’s do this. Whatever THIS is. Let’s go! I’m here for you.
Hi, I'm Jill and I'm a magazine hoarder. You're su Hi, I'm Jill and I'm a magazine hoarder. You're supposed to admit things like that right? Sorry, not sorry.I know we all love digital, but there is something fabulous about curling up on the couch with a throw in your lap and a fire going (yes, it's still winter here. I still have my winter decor up, noted alpaca fur rug on the floor). I love touching paper, studying those beautiful images.Although seriously, once in a while I will catch myself touching a photo and trying to zoom it in with my fingers🤦yea, that doesn't work in print. Duh! Anyone else do that? Just me? So you're saying I'm the only crazy one? Great.🙄What's your favorite magazine? If I told you mine, it would be like 10. Choosing one is like picking my favorite child, I swear I don't have one! They all are my favorites (my kids, and well yes, the magazines too!)My daughter is always trying to just get me to "say out loud" that she's my favorite😂but I'm holding strong. I have my favorite son in the whole world, my favorite brown eyed daughter (whose birthday is actually today) and my favorite blue eyed daughter! As luck would have it, I even got to add my favorite green eyed daughter to that list (10+ years and counting💙)So here's to favorites today! Tell me yours in the comments below. Magazines, not kids😂#magazinesarebest #myhomemystyle #magazinehoarder #favoritemagazines
I know what you’re thinking! And no I don’t m I know what you’re thinking! And no I don’t mind a bit of sunshine in my closet ☀️ even if something might fade.I do have UV protection on the window, and if something is staying in one place too long to get faded, then I’m not wearing it enough 😂Plus the sun lasts a very short time on that side of the house. Too much sun is better than none at all!I’m ready for spring! I need all the ☀️ feels! Are you a sun seeker or do you not mind the gray? #sunseeker #suninmycloset #willmyclothesfade #needsundontcare
I love how even crappy pieces of old furniture can I love how even crappy pieces of old furniture can be brought back to life! This dresser seemed like it was almost ready for the burn pile. But with a few repairs, and some Bungalow 47 Furniture Paint (color: Farmhouse Sink), it got a new life.I sure am looking forward to warmer weather, so I can get outside and do some projects. Painting outside is not needed, as the paint is No VOC and has no fumes. But there is still something wonderful about dragging projects outdoors and getting stuff done on a sunny day.So grab your To-Do lists and add that project you've been putting off for years. If you've been waiting for a sign to do it, this is it!#paintfixeseverything #bungalow47chalkandclaypaint #bungalow47furniturepaint #whitedressers #makeitnewmakeityou #paintedfurniture #paintingfurniture
Yesterday was my mother's 89th birthday. My sister Yesterday was my mother's 89th birthday. My sister planned a big family party, via Zoom, that was attended by all of us across the country. Too bad cheesecake can't squeeze through Internet wires.😞I love this picture of the two of us, she was so incredibly beautiful. I was about 2 years old in this photo.I wasn't sure if she would make it to 89. She was diagnosed with colon cancer and had been given about 3 months. Her birthday was that 3 month mark, and she's still here.My mother is a fighter. Always has been, but at this time in her life, she has Alzheimer's and isn't aware of her cancer. She faces each day unaware, only focused on her love of Jesus. I love that even with her Alzheimer's, she remembers her deep loves: my dad, her children and grandchildren, and her Savior.I look around my house and see sooooo many things that were hers. Everywhere I look, I will always be reminded of her. Of things she loved. My mother loves shoes, and I inherited that sentiment. A week and a half ago, I flew to California to see her. I try to go once a month, as I know her time is closing in. As we sat side by side on the edge of her bed, holding hands, she looked down and said to me "oh what cute shoes!" (I was wearing my leopard print Rothy's)I burst out laughing! This woman can't remember much from moment to moment, but by golly, she knows that she loves shoes and she still notices them.💙Yes, material things are just THINGS. But those things have meaning to some, and they matter. And when I see these things in my home, I think of her. Happy birthday Mom, I love you.#thingsdomatter #fillyourhomewithpersonalthings #blueandwhitehome
I have been working on a project this week that ha I have been working on a project this week that has left my fingers cramped and aching. I'm trying to tell myself it is the hard work and not arthritis from aging🤦But even when my hands hurt, I am plugging along. I love to be working and busy. I am grateful to be alive and physically fit to do a project, even when everything hurts.Sometimes when we work hard, and focus, success will come. Sometimes it doesn't, and that is always disappointing. But keep going my friends.💙I truly believe that the best is yet to come. We all have so much more living to do. So if you're hanging on by a thread, keep going. Tomorrow will be different and success could be just around the corner.Happy Sunday xoxo

I don't think I have shared my home office studio I don't think I have shared my home office studio with you before. But today, we are having an ice storm, and I have literally been in here the whole day. No work at the warehouse, no shipping paint, ice brings everything to a screeching halt. This space is a bit of a design lab for me. Everything weird, crazy, and vintage ends up in this space because it is only for me. It is still a work in progress, and I have much to organize and still do, but so far it is comfortable. You can tell this picture is real life cause there is still a pile of crap inside the hutch and not everything is organized real pretty how I like it. My desktop is full of stuff, and wires, but sometimes you gotta just see reality here, you know?Do you have a room that is all your own? Or if you did, what would it look like? Tell me in the comments below. And wherever you are, I hope you are safe and warm! Happy Wednesday!#homestudio #aroomofherown #wherewomencreate #myhomeoffice
