Oh Hey! I’m Jill!

I’m so happy you’re here!

Creating a home is a process and it’s something best done over time. Home should be a haven where we can craft the life we want. I love homes with lots of books, comfy spots to snuggle, organized spaces to work and entertain, beautiful treasures picked up along the way, and mementos from a life well lived. But the thing I love most? Home is where your life happens. Let’s make it fabulous, shall we?

Alabaster lamps...it's not a problem, right?Mayb Alabaster lamps...it's not a problem, right?Maybe an obsession would be accurate. But I love them so much. The problem started with the lamp in the second picture. This was my parents lamp. I stared at it my whole childhood and waited patiently for the time that my parents would gift it to me. My mom said, "Put your name on the bottom of it so when we're old, we will remember who wants it."I may have told all my siblings I would arm wrestle for it, if needed. Good thing they love me and graciously allowed it to be mine. But I waited a long time to get it. Meanwhile, I collected others. Then more and more, but it's not a problem right? I have many more than pictured here😂just trying to keep my obsessions more quiet. But we're friends, right? So you won't tell anyone if I need a 7-step recovery program. Cause I don't want one. Unless I get to talk about alabaster lamps some more. Then I'll go.What are you obsessed with?#alabasterlamps #vintagealabasterlamp #usefulcollections
Look what I found at the flea market a few weeks a Look what I found at the flea market a few weeks ago! Isn’t the color amazing?!💙 I’m trying to decide how I will use it? 🤔 It could become a tree skirt this holiday like the one I did last year? Or maybe add the ruffles to the edge of a tablecloth? Maybe I’ll just wear it!😂 What do you think?

Have you ever looked at a picture of something onl Have you ever looked at a picture of something online and thought "wow, that sucks"? Like this room, it's weird, not everyone's cup of tea.But guess what? This is my home office, and it's MY cup of tea. Cause I like weird stuff, and vintage. And the rest of my house is normal, but in here I can be myself and do what I want.So it's colorful, and chaotic, with a few spots of fun (maybe like me?) and that is the point.Your home can be anything you want it to be. You can make it weird, or full of color, or calm and soothing. You can mix and match, or have everything one color. But it should be YOU (and whoever you live with). And it doesn't matter if anyone else thinks it sucks. It makes me howl😂when I'm reading comments on social and someone says something like 'yuck! why would you paint a room that color?' And I'm all, 'dude, you don't live there, they do."So I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you want to paint your bedroom black, or purple, or peach, or whatever, then do it! Don't be swayed by the haters. As long as YOU love it, that's what matters. And it's just paint, you can always paint it again! If you see something you love while you're shopping, and whoever you are with is like "meh", still buy it. Surround yourself with stuff YOU LOVE!Just don't settle. Settling sucks. Make a plan, save your pennies if you need to, make the change, and live with what you love!#unapologeticdesign #makeityou #personalstyledecorating
Hello friends! I haven't been on social much this Hello friends! I haven't been on social much this summer, as there has been a ton going on. But I wanted to jump on and say HI and introduce myself a bit.I'm Jill and I love avocado.I'm a home design enthusiast who is obsessed with all things vintage.I'm a recovering shoe-aholic who would now like to buy nothing but plants.I love tacos, hydrangeas, my 10 adorable grand babies, reading, and trying new things. I've been married 40 years to the love of my life, and he still makes me laugh (and roll my eyes). When I'm not picking through an estate sale or DIYing, I'm usually traveling, playing word games on my phone (I like to multitask) or thinking about food.I'm an introverted-extrovert, organized hoarder of good stuff, and meme sender.I hope you'll stay awhile so we can get to know each other. I truly believe that your home should be a reflection of YOU and tell a bit about your life's journey. I love things, as they have meaning and deeper connections to people and memories we love.Tell me in the comments about one thing you have in your home that reveals a bit about who you are. Let's be friends!💙#livingwithvintage #personalstyledecorating #bungalow47

Isn't it weird how age makes some things even more Isn't it weird how age makes some things even more beautiful?Wicker, wood, old glass, crazing on ironstone, I love it all! It is a story of a life well lived, time not always being kind, but beautiful nevertheless.I'm trying to capture this feeling when I look at my own self. These gray hairs, the wrinkles and laugh lines, they were earned. I've lived a beautiful life, yet not always easy. Maybe that is why I love vintage so very much.🤔Do you incorporate vintage in your decorating? Those layers of wear add character to a room. Embrace the imperfections, love the pieces and continue to give them more life. Add to their story. And be kind to your beautiful self. We deserve it. #livingwithvintage #agehasbeauty #personalstyledecorating

Do you ever freak out when it's time to make holes Do you ever freak out when it's time to make holes in your wallpaper to hang something?I'll share my favorite tip below for hiding that hole. When I was shopping in Chicago with my friend a few weeks back, I found this amazing painting at @warehouse55_ and I'm soooooo in love with it! She was all, "your reaction was intense, why are you drawn to this?" And I could tell her a few things, but art is like that. You need a connection to it. I feel like all the things I love, and experiences in my life cause a reaction of feelings and this one just really spoke to me. I may not have all the words to explain why, but I will adore looking at this piece for the rest of my days! Even if I can't find exactly the words to describe my elation. The frame that came with it was a bit clunky, so I think I'll scour my stash and find a new/old frame for it. But I want it right here to see first thing, in the entry way when you come into the house. Also hanging in the entry, are five oils that I found that are landscapes of old houses. Whoever painted them wrote the history of each house, where it was located, and a bit about who lived there, on the back of each one. I love everything about creating a home, so having these vintage oils speaks to me.Tip for making holes: I make a small hole with a thin but long nail that can hold the weight of what I am hanging. I place it within the pattern of the paper, rather than the solid background. That way, if I ever need to repair the hole, I use a small piece of the wallpaper and match up within the pattern. I keep the patch only slightly bigger as the hole and it disappears within the pattern. So I'm off to find my frame. Tell me, do you have art that has made you feel excited and joyful deep within your soul? Tell me about it, I'd love to hear!#vintageart #vintageoils #artspeakstomysoul #mypersonalstyle
