Oh Hey! I’m Jill!

I’m so happy you’re here!

Creating a home is a process and it’s something best done over time. Home should be a haven where we can craft the life we want. I love homes with lots of books, comfy spots to snuggle, organized spaces to work and entertain, beautiful treasures picked up along the way, and mementos from a life well lived. But the thing I love most? Home is where your life happens. Let’s make it fabulous, shall we?

Planting a miniature fairy garden today with my gr Planting a miniature fairy garden today with my granddaughters. They were so excited to find every little stick and rock that we added.A wire coat hanger became the base for our arch entrance to the garden. This is tucked up next to a fence, right near their play system that I updated for them back in 2020 (right before the pandemic). You can read about that transformation on the blog. There is much more to add, but as they find little treasures along their travels, they can tuck rocks and plants here and there to create a magical little spot for their imagination.Have you ever created a little fairy garden? I'd love to hear your ideas! Leave me a comment below.#minifairygarden #creativeplayinthegarden

Grandchild #10 made her debut yesterday! We are so Grandchild #10 made her debut yesterday! We are so blessed. We had #9 born in May this year, and her name is Iris. So I planted irises in the cottage garden. They will forever be known as the "flower cousins" I'm sure.To honor this precious babe, I will not have to plant anything as her name is already in the garden. Can you guess what they named her?#s#soblessed❤️ #flowernames #bestmimilife

One of my favorite collections I have (which is fa One of my favorite collections I have (which is fairly small for me) is my wood boxes. I love how useful they are. That reminds me of that scene in the movie 'Hot Chick' where Adam Sandler has a cameo of a burnout stoner in a shop where the girls are shopping. They keep picking up tchotchkes and his answer to everything is "you can store your weed in there."I'm not storing any weed in mine, but you could, I guess. I hide things like catalogs. And who says those don't provide a certain kind of high? Catalog shopping is the best!My fave box, and the one that started it all, is this box I got from my grandmother. My mother claims that it belonged to her dad. Not sure if that is true, she's a bit of a storyteller😂, but I'm going with it. Since I am a lover of Cape Cod, and this one is the largest, it holds all the things.A close second in the favorite department is the one I picked up a few years back while on a trip to Canada, heading to Banff. We stopped in this great little shop and I found it, made by a local craftsman that retrieves fallen wood from nearby forests and carves it into boxes and useful containers. This holds all our TV remotes (why the heck do we need so many?)If you are interested in a few tips about collecting, head to the Bungalow 47 blog and check out the post on collecting vintage. Tell me in the comments below, what are you storing your weed in?#bungalow47style #vintagecollections #vintagewoodboxes #collectingvintage #shelfstyle
Do you ever feel like you are being watched? Maybe Do you ever feel like you are being watched? Maybe even stalked?I'm always surprised by this, because Otis usually ignores me most of the time. I guess he only has 2 speeds; either complete annoyance by my presence (therefore ignoring me) or creeping around the corner and showing up everywhere I go.This morning I was in the shower. Guess who watched? Ew.I was working at my computer, and almost tripped over this fur ball as I left my chair. He's pretty stealth. But what would a home be without a dog? Other than free from dog hair?Do you like a dog hair free house or prefer to have a "watcher"?#bungalow47style #lifewithotis #doghairhome
It was a lucky day. I should have bought a lotto t It was a lucky day. I should have bought a lotto ticket. What are the chances that I would drag an old dresser that has been in my warehouse for years up to the cottage, then discover one of the drawers was missing a bottom, only to find the exact scrap of wood we needed in the garage to fix it? It all just came together without a hitch.Group effort for the win! My son fixed it all up, I painted it using the color Subway Tile (Bungalow 47 Furniture Paint), and now it's ready to be used in their space at the lake cottage. Sometimes you gotta just use what you have.I'm on a quest to use what I got or get rid of it. Who is with me? Are you a user or a keeper? Tell me in the comments below.#bungalow47style #bungalow47furniturepaint #usewhatyouhave #diyproject
