Oh Hey! I’m Jill!

I’m so happy you’re here!

Creating a home is a process and it’s something best done over time. Home should be a haven where we can craft the life we want. I love homes with lots of books, comfy spots to snuggle, organized spaces to work and entertain, beautiful treasures picked up along the way, and mementos from a life well lived. But the thing I love most? Home is where your life happens. Let’s make it fabulous, shall we?

When I was out a few weeks ago antiquing with a fr When I was out a few weeks ago antiquing with a friend, I picked up this vintage party book. It was copyrighted in the 50s and it is sooooo cute!I don't know about you, but I love to read old cookbooks and entertaining guides, as it is sometimes hilarious to see how times have changed, or pretty much stayed the same. This book has the cutest graphics and has some fun examples for children's parties (I do love me a theme party!) and holiday get togethers. Look closely at the "Saturn Soda" suggestion🤣🤣I literally just got a cavity even reading that!Did you ever have a theme party growing up? My fave was one I threw for my baby girl when she was 4. It was a farm party complete with an adorable cow I made from a sawhorse for a photo shoot, barn cake, and lots of gingham and animal themed games. The pictures were the best!🐮If you could throw a party right now, what theme would it be?#partybook #themeparties #personalstyleliving
Anyone else off track with what day it is? Every t Anyone else off track with what day it is? Every time we have a Monday holiday, by Thursday I'm confused, not knowing which end is up.Nevertheless, I'm going to catch the days (and this sweet little of mine) with open arms because it feels like officially summer. And there aren't many things better than that.Being born and raised in sunny Southern California, I'm no stranger to warm, perfect days. But man, they got sweeter when I moved to Michigan. My dad was born and raised in Wisconsin and I must have his Midwest genes coursing through my veins, because I love the 4 seasons! ❄️☔️☀️🍁There is literally NOTHING like a day at the lake, a midwest summer night, s'mores around the campfire, watching the stars in the dark blue sky. Gives me goosebumps, I'm a fan.So tell me, what's great about where you live? Hope you're having a good Tuesday (wait, it is Tuesday right?) 😂#summerinthemidwest #lakelife #cottagelifestyle #summercottage
It’s Memorial Day, friends! 🇺🇸I am so gr It’s Memorial Day, friends! 🇺🇸I am so grateful for this land we live in, and for those who fought for our freedoms.Memorial Day is here to remind us of the immense courage and dedication shown by our military and reinforces the importance of preserving their memory for future generations.A few years back we visited Arlington Cemetery and what a somber, and incredible site that is. We have traveled to Normandy, France and stood on the beaches where our soldiers died. It was surreal and awe inspiring to learn more about our history.History is there for us to remember, to give thanks for sacrifices, and to ponder and grow so that we don't repeat mistakes in human history. I hope that today and everyday, you will thank a veteran for their service and sacrifice.Have a wonderful day!
I am waaaaaay late to the 'getting ready for sprin I am waaaaaay late to the 'getting ready for spring' party as we have been traveling a bit. But today, I threw the doors open, the light streamed in, and I moved the furniture around a little.During the summer, I tweak the seating away from the fireplace in the family room off the kitchen. In winter, I have it angled to snuggle up to a roaring fire. It felt good to move it all, dust, and vacuum up those pine needles left over from Christmas that seem to still be hiding everywhere. Where have they been all these months?I even put MATCHING pillows on the chairs 😲 which totally doesn't sound like me (I'm a mis-matchy person) but I just wanted a little change. Getting ready to have my littles around tomorrow, and nothing sounds better!I know Mother's Day isn't a happy holiday for all, so sending you hugs and good vibes if you need it. My mother is still cruising through life, 3 months past the expiration date the doctor gave last year, and counting! She's a funny one, even with her Alzheimers.Have a great weekend friends! 💙#myhomestyle #personalstyledecor #howihome
Today on the blog we're talking about thrifting fo Today on the blog we're talking about thrifting for vintage and where to store it.I'm never one to worry about "where to store it" as I'm a bit more concerned about putting it in my car to take home! But sometimes when we hoard all our goodies, it's good to be organized. What do you collect? Share in the comments. And head to the website to check out tips for thrifting. What are your hopes and dreams for your home? Is What are your hopes and dreams for your home? Is it something decorative, like a renovation? Or is it something meaningful, like filling it with more loved ones?Home is such a special place, or can be. I know it's not ideal for everyone, in all the ways to define, but our hopes and dreams for our home can be whatever we wish. Many times I can wish for an update (probably one that I physically don't have to DIY myself😉) but mostly I hope for love to enter in.We had some wonderful, dear old (not aged 😂 but we've known them 40 years) friends come and visit recently. As they arrived and we stepped right back to where we were, like time never passed, I felt so happy sharing our home with them. And as the house filled the next day with more family and friends, it was a testament to the power that love brings to our homes.I love all the pretty things that make our home comfortable, but I adore even more all the people that come and fill it!Besides loved ones, what is your favorite thing about your home?#sundaythoughtsonhome
Is it collecting or hoarding? Asking for a friend Is it collecting or hoarding? Asking for a friend 🤔 I mean, if it’s pretty and you use it, then it must be collecting. Budget frames + hydrangeas! This week on the blog, Budget frames + hydrangeas! This week on the blog, I joined a little blog hop to share some cute DIY ideas for Mother's Day gifts...planning ahead ya know? Joining @eleanorrosehome @ourtiny_nest @mornings_on_macedonia and @thetatteredpew for this DIY fun.I made these simple frames from paint sticks and decoupage napkins! They are such a fun, quick craft to share a photo, quote, or even a little work of art or stitchery. Link is in bio. Also, I received a few pots of hydrangeas for Easter from family and friends. My daughter came in with a pot and saw one sitting there, and acted all appalled that someone else knew that blue hydrangeas were my fave, besides her! 😂😂 I loved her reaction, she's the sweetest!Of course, anything from my thoughtful precious daughter is the best, and I felt so loved to have received a few lovely plants. Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. It's definitely feeling like spring, don't you think?#springtimedecor #bluehydrangeas #myhomemystyle
My favorite quote by designer Elsie de Wolfe sums My favorite quote by designer Elsie de Wolfe sums up the love I have for homes and design. She said, “It’s not the homes I love, but the life that’s lived there.” I have felt that so much this past weekend.
We had the house full of good friends and family for Easter. There was great conversation and good food, lots of giggles and snuggles, and dogs and love and so much more! The home is 4 walls and lots of great stuff inside, but the life is what makes me happiest! 🏡 ❤️ #homesweethome #thelifethatslivedthere #myhomestyle #myhomevibe
Today is 4/7, the 12th anniversary of Bungalow 47! Today is 4/7, the 12th anniversary of Bungalow 47! Did you know that is where the 4-7 came from? Our business started 4/7/2011 with me and @chantelles141 and although today is now just me, our history of how we started will always be “we”. So we still celebrated today together with Mexican food from the restaurant where we first hatched our plan, and did a little vintage hunting. Chantelle is busy running her family business, killing it in the cross stitch market and we still have more shenanigans to have in the future. Swipe to see some of our coast-to-coast fun over the years. Happy anniversary Telle and thanks for the most fun 9 years together!😘 #bungalow47history #womeninbusiness
