Weekly Wrap-up – All Things Vintage
Hello friends! Welcome to my weekly wrap-up called the Sunday Soda Sip – where I share random thoughts, along with tips, tricks, and inspiration from around the web. This is the all things vintage edition. So grab your drink and let’s chat and sip.

This week ended up full of lots of vintage! I started out going to a barn sale. Apparently this chick has a business where she has 4 sales a year, one for each season.

She has a barn that is set up like an antique shop, and all throughout her property, she has these scenic spots of vintage displays. She said that many area photographers come and take pictures there.

Her (then) fiancee built this greenhouse and then they ended up getting married in there. I was like, wait he builds all this stuff? Hang onto that one! The whole thing was pretty idyllic and farm-y. Is that a word?

She had a cow, so I got a bit distracted and didn’t get pictures of all the vintage truck scenes and other places she had all over the property. I mean, in my defense, this cow was really cute. I had to stare at a for a while.

But I did get a few more pictures. It was a great place for inspiration, even if I didn’t buy a lot. I purchased an old red, white, and blue quilt for $20 and an old drafting stool that had really great peely, chippy colors. Since her prices were retail (other than the quilt, that one was in a bargain pile at the beginning) I didn’t buy too much.

When you are a vintage dealer yourself, if I am paying retail prices, then I am only buying for myself and not to resale. Her style was super cute, but pretty farmhouse, which is just not me at the moment. Our current house is a Cape Cod style, so I have tweaked some of my collections to look different as needed. But I am not ruling that out for the future. One day I will have my English Country farmhouse. Or not.
Tip: Always buy what you truly love and that speaks to you. If you love it, then you will find a place for it!
I then stopped at an antique mall a couple miles up the street, and loved this little corner in one of the booths. Definitely not farmhouse.

The next day, I ended up at a great estate sale! It was the final day and there was still a lot left. I was able to buy some items to sell in my booth, so I got to fill my car. I always take all the items back to my paint warehouse so I can clean, fix, and price everything. This was a small part of my pile:

If you want to know how the pros navigate an estate sale on the first day, read this post. The final day is more of a free for all.
Whenever I buy vintage, even for resale, I always buy things that I like and am interested in since you never know if you will end up with it. I have bought and sold soooooo much stuff over the years. When you like the items and are drawn to them, then displaying them is easier too. So redoing my booth would be the next task on the list.
I sell my vintage finds at Williamston Antique Market in Williamston, Michigan. My booth is located down the aisle from the main checkout place. If you are ever in the area, stop in and check out the mall. It is a really nice one.

I love to move everything around, as it makes everything seem fresh. Back when I had the shop, we used to do this a lot. it was always funny because each time we did it, customers would come in and say “Oh my gosh, you have all new stuff!” even if not one thing was new. It had just been moved. So yeah, come by the mall and see my booth. Everything in it is fresh finds!

Inspiration from the web
After all the shopping and rearranging, I did a little web surfing. Here are some fun things I found:
Check out this darling cottage in the Pacific Northwest, the house is as charming as the gardens.
This California design portfolio will have you drooling and keeping your jealousy in check!
I really can’t get enough of all the things on this website. My barstools are from here, and I love them!

What will this new week bring to you?
Okay friends, I hope that you have an amazing week. I’d love to hear what you are doing and what inspires you. Tell me in the comments.
One last thing…I have to share with you one of my favorite things from Trader Joe’s! It’s these hash brown patties. They are so good. I put them in the air fryer, then added some grated cheese and a jalapeño slice (I had some fresh jalapeño peppers in my garden that needed to be used!) I served them with some sour cream mixed with fresh dill from my herb garden. Yummy! All on a vintage plate, of course.

Have a great week! Thanks for joining me today for Sunday Soda Sip. I’d love to have you join me more often, follow along on these platforms.

That greenhouse was so cool and could only be enhanced being in your yard with all your flowers! I just love your garden.
This was so much vintage fun, Jill! I wish we had some of the antique and vintage shops you show here. And that greenhouse! I am so in love! How charming. Thanks for sharing my home tour my friend. I really appreciate it.
Lynn, Thank you so much for following along! I love that you found EB2 Vintage in Traverse City, it’s such a fun shop. Our warehouse is located in Haslett. Feel free to email us directly if you need paint, and you can always pick up directly from here. The barn sale I went to was in Swartz Creek. I found her on Instagram @valerie.sharp.farm.chic and her next sale will be in the fall but I think you can make an appointment too!
I always look forward to your newsletter! Last week we rented a cottage in Cadillac and went up to Traverse city one of the days. Last year I found a store there and went back last week. I was so excited to see your paints there! Is there a more local shop (to Webberville) that carries them? I’ve collected some furniture this summer that needs paint! Lol I am also wondering the location of the barn sale you talked about first. I’d like to check it out next time.
