Rustica Hardware has a shop in Provo, Utah where my daughter currently lives. It’s the type of place you see while driving, then quickly slam on your brakes because you know you have to go, right now! They are incredible artists and have some really cool stuff in their showroom (hmmm, maybe I’ll write a post about my visit) but their Instagram feed always makes me happy. Whoever owns this barn, my hats off to you! This is modern farmhouse perfection. I’m basically a Rachel Ashwell groupie and just want to take a nap on this couch right now. Yes to that wallpaper. Yes to that couch. Yes to everything, wild perfection! Because Bunny knows all. That’s it. What are you obsessing over this week?
Weekly Instagram Inspiration #1
I love when you’re strolling through Instagram and find something that speaks to you. There is plenty to love everyday in the feed, but this week, these were some of my faves. Living in the Midwest, there is nothing like the fall! I missed out on the seasons growing up in Southern California. I’m happy to see that the south is just as picturesque. I just want to crawl in this bed. Seriously, a breeze blowing into the room, and being able to snuggle down into down-filled linens by Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic, yes please! I cannot get enough of this picture! I really need multiple houses so I can have a kitchen with green cabinets. This is ridiculously awesome! Oh Martha, how I love […]

Memories in Round Top, Texas
As Chantelle and I prepare to head to Antiques Week in Round Top, Texas, I can’t help but ponder the last time we were there. Before I do that, let me back up a bit. Once you find out about Round Top and know Antiques Week, it draws you in like a moth to a flame. It’s the type of show that draws people from all over the world, where a little tiny Texas town of 90 swells to tens of thousands over a weeks time. There are fields and fields of treasures, miles of junk to be found, amazing inspiration and glorious antiques found at Marburger. It’s enough to make you want to leave your life and hang out there, leaving reality behind. Chantelle […]
Guest Room Makeover at Chantelle’s House
Our last two daughters moved out this past year making us official empty nesters. While I love all of my girls to pieces and it was hard to see them go, it is nice having the house to ourselves again. Another perk is being able to transform their rooms in our Bungalow 47 style. Yes!! The girls old rooms are your average size bedrooms so it’s easy to paint and revamp things without a major overhaul. I’m turning each one into a fun guest room and keeping them “at the ready” in case someone needs a room for a night… or two. First, I put a list together of what each room needed: Queen size bed Bedding A couple of night stands Small dresser […]
Message in a Buffet
Half the fun of my job is in finding the pieces that I paint. Sometimes we come by items easily and other times we really have to dig and hunt for the treasures we bring back to Bungalow 47. This particular buffet was from one of our “digging” excursions. A few weeks ago Jill and I received a call from one of our pickers, who said he was working a house that was full of stuff he thought we would like. The key words there were “full” and “stuff.” We were out the door like a shot! As soon as we arrived, we realized that this was going to take a while and that yes, we were indeed going to get our hands dirty. We […]
Bringing Travel Inspiration to Your Home
I live in a ‘house of travel’. What I mean by that is, seriously, we are always talking about travel. My hubby travels excessively for his job, we travel for pleasure and to see our kids who are spread out all over the US and Chantelle and I get to travel occasionally for business. Somehow I am always in a conversation about flights, connections, rentals cars, hotels, etc. It’s ridiculous, I’m not gonna lie, but there are perks of travel. And I’m not just talking the ‘first class’ kind! Two benefits of traveling are 1) you get to be someplace else where there are new things to see, different styles to observe, and inspiration to soak up. And 2) you get to come home after […]
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint
It’s here!! It’s here!! Our Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint has arrived! I’ve always been a fan of milk paint. The fun chippy peely look that can be achieved when you use it without adding the binding agent is right up my alley and having Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint here at Bungalow 47 is proving to be a fun new addition to our line of fabulous furniture finishes. The first thing I did when MMSMP arrived was found a wonderful piece to try it out on along with a little chalk and clay paint too. This gem with its warped top and fun little wooden knob was the perfect choice for the heavily distressed look I was after. I quickly gave it coat of white […]
