I’ve always been a bit of a collector, which has usually oozed into my closet as well, so when I saw this quote on Pinterest I had to laugh! I think we all can admit we’ve peeked into the fictional life of Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) on Sex and the City, if not to glimpse her fabulous single life in New York City, then to check out what the heck she was wearing! Man, I never tire of those reruns, because even now, Carrie is the queen of rocking that casual “oh, I just threw this on and look amazing” look.
So down to Texas Chantelle and I go, bringing back a little real style we can rock up here in the Midwest, boyfriend flannels! Just check out any store in a mall and you’ll see, everyone is mad for plaid this season! Here at Bungalow 47, we are loving the look of those soft and worn flannels, in many sizes and colors. And at a bargain price of $14 (most stores in Texas sold the boyfriend flannels for anywhere from $35-45 each) you can stock up and love a few that can become your signature “oh, this old comfy thing” go to shirt!
We have two racks full of classic flannels, some in smaller sizes and some pretty big so you can find one for your actual boyfriend as well! If you check into Pinterest, you’ll find there are a plethora of things people are doing to make the flannels even more trendy. I saw flannels with added vintage lace, half dipped in bleach, made into pillows, wrapped and tucked, worn with a ball gown skirt, and styled a million different ways! Whatever your style, age, size, or color preference, we have a flannel for you!
To make things even more exciting, we carry vintage quilted flannels too! These flannels are super soft and warm, being that they are lined in a quilted fabric for an extra layer to ward off the November chill.
Most have side pockets in the seams and make a great added layer of warmth when you are working inside or don’t need a full coat outside. They are selling for $19 each and have limited colors, so hurry in early for best selection.
How to Wear the Boyfriend Plaid
Pinterest shared some great photos of ways to wear your boyfriend flannel. First, for that thrown on look over skinny jeans or leggings, roll up the sleeves and pair with great accessories and heels.
Next, add some extra layers and textures with a thick wool scarf (another blog post coming in a few days about our scarf collection), faux fur vest, rolled jeans, and booties.
Keep it simple with distressed jeans, chunky scarf, converse tennis shoes, and a beanie. Of course, you always have to rock a great bag and we have more of the AMAZING leather bags by McFadin coming in before the holidays (more on that obsession and fabulousness later)!
And my fave — tuck it into a pencil skirt, add a chunky scarf, and strut your stuff wherever you are headed!
We are stocked full on clean, cool, and trendy vintage flannels so hurry on in! With the holidays right around the corner, you’ll want the pick of the litter for all your gift-giving needs.
See you soon, Jill
