Chantelle and I have this thing about getting distracted, where we will be discussing something and then one of us will get off topic and just yell “Squirrel”! We have a lot on our minds, but nothing gets me more distracted than thinking about my beautiful grand babies. Frankly, I can’t think about it too much because then all I want to do is cry and head to the nearest airport. My latest distraction (and obsession) came in April when my daughter gave birth to her first child, a daughter of her own. Nothing quite warms my heart more than seeing the two of them together and having my own daughter finally understand why I am so obsessed with her. It’s ridiculous, she’s amazing. But when I got the call to head south after the birth, naturally I did so with paint in tow.
I had sent her a quart to do the crib with American Paint Company’s Heaven’s Light, a soft yellow that would perfectly match the gorgeous bedding made by the co-grandma.
I’m happy to say, I am beyond ecstatic at the wonderful mother-in-law her husband provided. I had a precious mother-in-law myself (who passed away 7 years ago) and it is truly a gift to have one, not to mention one so talented! So this little one gets to sleep surrounded by some extra crafting love from both her grandmas (although I do believe my part was easier). The bedding fabric is by Amy Butler and with all the bright colors, Heaven’s Light was the perfect choice to add some softness. Plus, give me a break, I LOVE that name!
American Paint Company offers a no VOC, eco-friendly natural clay, chalk and mineral based paint with beautiful, non-toxic finishes, the perfect choice to paint furniture for a baby! After the 60+ hours of labor my daughter endured to have this precious being, we certainly weren’t going to paint furniture with anything that would be emitting fumes and putting this precious bundle at risk! Luckily, the painting of the changing table took me a fraction of that time, and soon we were organizing baby blankets and diapers in the little corner of the bedroom where this little wonder will be sleeping. Isn’t this just the cutest little baby nook ever?
Painting furniture can be a fun distraction, but when there is also an offering that is safe for the little bundle of love, than you just gotta go with it!
American Paint Company quart: $34.95
Eco-friendly wax: $27.95
Spending time with my daughter and grand-daughter: priceless!
Be happy, Jill
